CA-UTI: High risk features

At this point, a thorough evaluation searching for non-urinary tract and urinary tract sources of infection has found no clear etiology

The potential nonspecific signs and symptoms of CA-UTI make it is reasonable to evaluate and treat for a UTI when there are high risk features:

  • Fever lasting 24 hours or more
  • Rigors/shaking chills
  • Clear cut delirium (not just change in mental status) after ruling out other causes – please see Delirium Guide
